For families

You are probably arranging this for someone else.

Most people who call us are a son or a daughter, not the person who will be receiving the care. This page is written for you: what happens when you get in touch, and what you will be asked.

How it starts

Four steps, and the first one is a phone call.

  1. 01

You call or send an enquiry

Tell us roughly what is happening. You do not need to know which service you want, or have any paperwork ready. The office is open Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00, and the emergency helpline runs 24 hours.

  2. 02

    We talk it through

What a typical day looks like now, where it is going wrong, and who else is helping. Most families are trying to work out how little care they can start with — that is a fair question and we will answer it honestly.

  3. 03

    We agree a package together

You choose the days and the number of visits. We put together a package tailored to meet your needs, and we tell you what it costs before anything starts.

  4. 04

    It changes when needs change

Care rarely stays still. Packages are meant to be adjusted — more calls, fewer calls, a different time of day — and asking for a change is not a difficult conversation.

What a package looks like

Start with one call a day. Add to it if you need to.

There is no standard package. A morning call is where most people begin; some add a bed call within a few months, some never do.

  • MorningThe getting-up callPersonal care, dressing, medication and breakfast — the call most packages start with.
  • MiddayLunch and a check-inA meal prepared, or a short check call if that is all that is needed.
  • AfternoonCompany, shopping, appointmentsA leisure call, a day out, or a sit-in so family can have a few hours back.
  • EveningThe bed callSettling for the night, medication and making sure the house is secure.
  • Overnight24 hour helplineThe office runs Monday to Friday, 09:00–16:00 — but the emergency helpline runs around the clock.

We employ all of our carers directly, so you can be assured and have peace of mind that you or your loved one will be receiving support from someone who has passed all our training and selection process.
